Animals at the Orlando Science Center have made their Super Bowl predictions, and the results are for the birds. Yep, their not-so-scientific methods gave the edge to the Philadelphia Eagles over the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday’s big game.
The museum gave choices of the NFL teams to three of its animal ambassadors. In a video posted online, Memphis the skunk was drawn to the bowl of chow beneath the Eagles logo. Last year, Memphis correctly picked the Los Angeles Rams to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals.
Captain, a macaw living in the science center, also stuck with his winged brethren by sticking his head into an Eagle’s sack.
Finally, the video features a chinchilla named Poppy rolling in a ball toward the Chiefs logo. That gave Philadelphia a 2-1 margin, which fans could look at as doubling up on the score on KC — or barely edging them, depending on the perspective.
Science center officials note that the animals’ selection processes were part of their daily enrichments, which are used to encourage their natural instincts, such as locating food and exploring environments.

The Orlando trio hasn’t been alone in their Super pursuits. In a mock-up between two teams of penguins at Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Chiefs were determined to be champions. Also siding with Kansas City were orangutans from the zoo in Topeka, Kansas, and the dog of Jim Justice, governor of West Virginia.
Picking the Eagles to win were a degu from a zoo in Utica, New York, and a sea lion at an aquarium in Scottsdale, Arizona.
It was a split decision by two manatees at the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium in Sarasota.
